EAST CHICAGO | For the next six weeks, the East Chicago Fire Department will conduct testing on fire suppression standpipe and sprinkler systems at businesses and industrial sites in and around the city.
As part of the checking process, the department will lay hoses and check for the location to the nearest hydrants. The city cautions that this may cause some inconvenience for local residents and businesses.
The testing is expected to run through the end of February.
