CROWN POINT | A Hammond man was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison for his role in a shooting that wounded a tire shop worker, according to court records.

Adrian Barriga, 21, was found guilty last month on a charge of battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Class C felony. He was acquitted of charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery.

According to court records, he will receive 68 credit days for time he has already spent in jail. 

Barriga is accused of shooting a tire shop worker March 11, 2013, at the business in the 4700 block of Tod Avenue in East Chicago, according to court records.

The worker, Jesus Fuentes-Lopez, was shot multiple times and had to undergo several surgeries.
