Jeremiah Rivera, 16, of East Chicago, was found on the ground nearby. He died from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was found inside the vehicle. He was bleeding from his face and had been shot several times, police said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
