EAST CHICAGO | A man was wounded in a drive-by shooting Wednesday night while he attended a birthday party in East Chicago, police said.

The man suffered a graze wound over his eye and was treated and released at St. Catherine Hospital, police Lt. Marguerite Wilder said.

Police responded at 8:06 p.m. to the 500 block of East 150th Street for a call of shots fired, she said.

The man had been sitting outside a house where the birthday party was being held when an unknown driver pulled up and started shooting, Wilder said. The man ran inside the house.

The shooter was a dark-skinned male who was wearing a baseball cap and white T-shirt. He was driving a silver two-door vehicle and traveled east on 150th Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call police Detective Angelo Machuca at (219) 391-8523. To remain anonymous, call the Police Department's tip line at (219) 391-8500.
