HAMMOND | Police shut down a Woodmar-area massage parlor Thursday after a worker there allegedly offered sexual favors to an undercover officer.

Tian Hao Spa, whose sign advertises "full body — walk in," had been operating for less than three weeks at 6806 Indianapolis Blvd. but generated several anonymous complaints about alleged prostitution activities at the site, police said.

An undercover police officer testified in East Chicago City Court on Friday that he was solicited by a massage therapist there to exchange cash for sexual activity.

Yanwei Bi, 27, of Chicago, was charged with prostitution and released on a $500 bond. She faces an Oct. 12 arraignment on the charge.

The spa's location is the former site of Bryce Jewelers, which lost its business license in April for violations of city ordinances because jewelry reported stolen in local burglaries was found there for sale.
