EAST CHICAGO | Registration begins Monday for the East Chicago Public Library’s Summer Reading Club, a six-week program designed to stretch the imaginations and improve the reading skills of youngsters in preschool through high school.
The free program, which runs June 16 through July 23, features a variety of activities, including crafts, movies, games and storytelling. Participants also have the opportunity to earn exciting prizes, based on the number of books they read.
Youngsters can participate in the Summer Reading Club at any one of eight locations: the Main Library, 2401 E. Columbus Drive; the Pastrick Branch Library, 1008 W. Chicago Ave.; King Center, 4802 Melville Ave.; Pennsylvania Center, 3550 Pennsylvania Ave.; 151st Street Center, 4925 Gladiola Ave.; Roberto Clemente Center, 3616 Elm St.; Heritage Hall, 4506 Tod Ave. and Marktown, 3509 Spruce.
