EAST CHICAGO | Good Friday was indeed good for East Chicago children 3 to 12 as they enjoyed three hours of egg hunting, gifts, face painting and bicycle raffles.
The East Chicago Shrine Center, 3711 Pulaski St., hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt facilitated by Mahomet Temple 134, Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Noble Mystic Shrine; Mahomet Court 93, Daughters of Isis; and Eta Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
The annual egg hunt consisted of three separate age groups, ages 3 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 12, who diligently sought plastic eggs containing raffle tickets to claim their treasures, including golden or silver eggs.
While some were outdoors hunting for treasure, others were inside enjoying face painting by Sparkles the Clown of the Daughters of Isis Clown Unit. Prizes donated by Mahomet Court 93 and Eta Kappa Omega Chapter (AKA) ranged from small to large Easter baskets, stuffed animals, games, jump ropes, books, dyed eggs and candy treats, with the grand prizes being six bicycles donated by the Nobles of Mahomet Temple 134 – one girls and one boys bicycle for each age group.
