EAST CHICAGO | Temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid-90s Monday and Tuesday and East Chicago officials announced the opening of a cooling center to help provide some relief.

The East Chicago Emergency Management Agency announced Heritage Hall Community Center, 4506 Tod Ave., will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in the 90s both Monday and Tuesday, with heat indexes expected to reach 100.
