EAST CHICAGO | St. Catherine Hospital's 18th annual Wings of Healing tree-lighting ceremony and program is from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the hospital, 4321 Fir St.

See 'Sounds of Christmas'

EAST CHICAGO | The East Chicago Public Library ushers in the holiday season with "Sounds of Christmas" from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the main library, 2401 E. Columbus Drive. It includes lighting of decorated trees representing some of the ethic groups that comprise the city.

High school choir performs

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point High School  Bellavoce and QYP choral groups present a free winter concert at the Crown Point Community Library, 122 N. Main St. Refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Crown Point Community Library. Meeting room doors open at 5:30 p.m., concerts will begin promptly at 6.

Toys for children collected

HIGHLAND | The third annual Holiday Ladies Night raises money for toys to donate to Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Toy donations must be new, unwrapped and for any age group. For more information, contact Silver Buckle Saloon, (219) 838-5909.

Holiday concerts on tap

CROWN POINT  | The Crown Point High School Performing Arts Department presents its holiday concert series beginning with a band concert at 7 p.m. at Crown Point High School auditorium, 1500 S. Main St. Orchestra concerts are at  2, 4 and 7 p.m. Dec. 15. Tickets can be purchased at the CPHS box office from 2:40 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and one hour before each performance. Reserve tickets by calling the (219) 663-4885, ext. 11604. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students/senior citizens.

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Community Theatre group presents "Tiny Tim on Stage" opening at 8 p.m. at the theater, 1125 Merrillville Road. It follows a grown-up Tiny Tim as he goes through his own journey into the Christmas spirit. ST. JOHN | The St. John Chamber of Commerce hosts breakfast with Santa from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. John VFW Post 717, 10400 W. 93rd Ave. Tickets are $6 a person and must be bought in advance. Tickets are available at Centier Bank, Standard Bank & Trust and People's Bank, all in St. John.

Oh, Fuuudge race planned

HAMMOND | The Oh, Fuuudge tire relay race, part of the "A Christmas Story" Comes Home exhibit, is from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond. Bring a nonperishable food item as the entry fee. Visit Santa at schoolhouse

HAMMOND | The Little Red Schoolhouse, 7205 Kennedy Ave., hosts a visit from Santa from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Children 3 to 12 may shop for presents from ranging in price from 25 cents to $5.

Christmas Creche blessing

WHITING | The Whiting/Robertsdale Faith Enrichment Committee holds its outdoor Christmas Creche blessing with caroling at 5:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1849 Lincoln Ave., Whiting.

Bar hosts St. Jude toy drive

GRIFFITH | Sopranos Lounge, 840 S. Broad St., Griffith, holds at St. Jude House toy drive from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. It includes live music, baskets to be raffled and giveaways all night long. Santa serves pancakes

EAST CHICAGO | The Indiana Harbor-East Chicago Lions Club sponsors a Breakfast with Santa pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at Heritage Hall, 4506 Todd Ave. Bring a gently used or new toy and get a free picture with Santa, or pay $3 per photo. Proceeds will be used to purchase eyeglasses, support local soup kitchens and fund community service projects and five state projects. Admission is $5.
