EAST CHICAGO | The Pantry on the Go will stop from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 513 W. Chicago Ave. Grains, fruit, vegetables, dairy and protein are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The service is available to all Northwest Indiana residents in need of food assistance. Bring a valid proof of Indiana residency and bags or boxes to carry the items home. Wealth, wellness seminar set
MERRILLVILLE | The women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Gary Alumnae Chapter, in partnership with the Urban League of Northwest Indiana, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Council of Negro Women will host a wealth and wellness seminar on financial fortitude from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gamba's Ristorante, 455 E. 84th Drive, Merrillville. Chamber hosts golf classic
MERRILLVILLE | The Hobart Chamber of Commerce will host its golf classic from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Innsbrook Country Club, 6701 Taft St., Merrillville. Old flags to be retired
MUNSTER | The Veterans of Foreign Wars Munster Post 2697 and American Legion Post 16 will retire used American flags from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Veterans Memorial, Calumet Avenue and Superior Street, Munster. That will be on the south side of the memorial behind the Vietnam venue. At 6 p.m., the VFW Cannoneers will execute a Salute to the Union (50 cannon rounds) north of the pond. At 7 p.m., the Benevolent and Protective Order of Eagles Lodge 485 will conduct a special ceremony in the north circle of the memorial.
Celebrity Showcase on tap
GARY | African American Achievers Youth Corps. Inc. hosts is second annual Celebrity Showcase featuring fashions and talents of area celebrities. It will feature elected officials and leaders of Gary and Northwest Indiana. Tickets are $15 in advance, $120 at the door and available at Beautiful Things, 3570 Village Court, and at the door.
Raise money for MS research
SCHERERVILLE | Briar Ridge Country Club will host a four-mile run/one-mile walk to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Registration is at 3:30 p.m.; the race/walk follows at 4:30 p.m. Those not up to the challenges of a run or mile walk can participate in the family walk around the clubhouse, which will be led by Chicago White Sox mascot Southpaw. After the race, participants can enjoy the beverage tent and go to the clubhouse for a post-race party and cookout or dinner. Cost is $35.
Brewery marks anniversary
