EAST CHICAGO | Jennie D. Bell needs a sports car at the fast rate she is going places.
Bell recently graduated from Dominican University in River Forest, IL with a 3.77 GPA and is now on her way to Valparaiso University to purse a law degree.
"I loved my educational journey," said Bell. "I have always enjoyed school and felt it's what I need to be doing. I take my education very seriously."
At Dominican University, Bell majored in Political Science (pre-law concentration), Sociology, Criminology and Black Work Studies. She also minored in Communications and Study of Women and Gender.
Bell received the 2013 Dorothy Reiner Mulroy Award for Character Excellence, the highest honor bestowed upon a graduating senior for outstanding achievement.
Bell was the President of both the Omicron Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha and the Black Student Union. She is also a member of Pi Gamma Mu, Lamda Pi Eta, Alpa Chi and Ankh Maat Wedjau Honor Societies.
Jennie is the proud daughter of Avis and Stanley Bell and has one older sister Stacey Jones and two older brothers Stanley, Jr. and Steven.
"My family is wonderful" said Bell. "They have allowed me to work hard and focus and I appreciate each of them for being so encouraging every step of the way."
Bell is a product of East Chicago and graduated from Bishop Noll in 2009. She will be attending Valparaiso University this fall.
