EAST CHICAGO | A 22-year-old man was shot Sunday in the area of 140th Street and Pulaski Street in East Chicago, police said.

Officers arrived in the area about 3:45 p.m. after gunshots were heard in the area, said Mark Becker, East Chicago police chief. Officers found blood on the street and later found the 22-year-old inside a house in the 4000 block of Pulaski Street.

The unidentified 22-year-old was taken to St. Catherine Hospital. Information about the extent of his wounds was not released Sunday.

Becker said police were questioning a 35-year-old man Sunday. Witnesses in the area also told police a black Lincoln car was seen driving off shortly after the shooting.
