Temperatures could dip below freezing by Tuesday morning for the first time this season.

The National Weather Service issued a freeze watch for Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Cook and Will counties through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Colder air is expected to move into the region Monday behind a cold front. Forecasters said clouds will gradually dissipate Monday night, allowing temperatures to fall to or below freezing by sunrise Tuesday.
