GARY | Indiana University Northwest invites the campus and community to attend a writer’s workshop for aspiring authors and mystery aficionados at 2:30 p.m. on March 21 in the Bruce W. Bergland Auditorium, located in the Savannah Center.

The workshop will be conducted by Lucha Corpi, a Mexican-American writer who has published works of poetry and fiction. The workshop will include a question and answer session as well as a book signing.

Corpi, a tenured teacher in the Oakland, Calif. public school system, has written four mystery novels that explore Chicano politics, history and culture from multiple perspectives, including that of a Chicana clairvoyant detective named Gloria Damasco.

Corpi perceives art as a means of activism, and her writing challenges assumptions about race, gender, criminal ac tivity, and culture represented in the tradition of mainstream authors.

The event is sponsored by the IU Northwest Office of Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs and the Departments of English and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Please arrive early as space is limited. For more information, contact Phyllis Barlow at (219) 980-6596 or
