GARY | A verbal altercation led to the intentional hit-and-run of a 25-year-old woman Tuesday night in Gary, police said.
Officers were called to a home in the 4300 block of Ryan Court about 10:10 p.m., according to police reports.
The woman who was hit told police she and another woman, who was sitting inside a car, had an argument, police said.
After the argument, the woman in the car drove into another car parked in the driveway, which in turn struck another vehicle that was parked in the driveway, police said.
The woman then put the car in reverse, turned it around, and struck the 25-year-old, police said.
The impact caused the woman to flip over the hood of the car, landing on the windshield, police said.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries to the right side of her body.
The woman in the car fled the scene but was arrested a short time later near her home, where she was dropped off by someone in another car, police said.
She told officers she had abandoned the car used in the hit-and-run on a highway, police said. She is expected to be charged with criminal recklessness.
