GARY | A 68-year-old woman was raped at gunpoint Saturday night at a local South Shore Line station, Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District police said.

The woman told NICTD police she was waiting about 11:46 p.m. Saturday inside Gary's Miller Beach South Shore station at U.S. 12 and Lake Street when a man attacked her.

The attack was recorded on parking lot security cameras, a NICTD news release states.

Police described the man as black, in his mid 20s and wearing a white T-shirt with black lettering on the front and back. He also was wearing white shorts and had a black handgun.

Footage shows the man riding away east from the station on a dark-colored BMX-style bicycle, police said.

The woman was taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call (219) 398-6000.
