GARY | National Heritage Academies (NHA), one of the nation’s largest charter school management companies, awarded Aspire Charter Academy with an Eagle Award at its annual awards ceremony on Monday, Nov. 18.
Aspire Charter Academy, located in Gary, Indiana, earned an Eagle Award for Employee Engagement which means more than 75 percent of employees are considered engaged using the Hewitt 6 measure on the spring employee survey. Engaged teachers leads to more effective learning in the classroom. In 2012-13, Aspire Charter Academy students experienced academic growth at 123 percent of the national average.
School Principal Rasheeda Green reacted to the award by saying, “We work hard at Aspire Charter Academy to ensure everyone remains deeply involved and enthusiastic when it comes to student learning. It feels good knowing the staff is engaged in their work and giving 100 percent in the classroom every day so our students can reach their academic goals.”
This is the 13th year NHA honored its top performing schools with Eagle Awards. Along with Employee Engagement, NHA rewards schools in seven other areas including: Academic Growth, Parent Satisfaction, Enrollment and Attrition, State Accountability, Taking Flight, Soaring to New Heights, and School of the Year.
NHA’s system of schools is designed to eliminate achievement gaps and provide school choice to families, with the clear objective of preparing children for success in high school, college, and beyond.
For the 2013-2014 school year, NHA is serving more than 50,000 students in 76 schools in nine states.
