As the hands are played in duplicate bridge (about 27 per game), a record is kept of each pair's scores. The data from each hand is inputted into a computer and scores are calculated to determine each player's final percentage of success.
"To earn a 70 percent or better score does not happen very often," said bridge player Barbara Walczak, who leads the weekly games played in Highland and Calumet Twp. "A partnership has to play a very sound game against all the other competition in the room. They receive special recognition in the club's weekly newsletter if they can reach this level of success."
Nineteen names, highlighted in the list of the top 50 players for the month of January in the Highland and Calumet Township games, identify players who have had at least one 70 percent game for the year just ended.
