GARY | Two brothers were shot when a man began firing at their vehicle in the 3700 block of Fillmore Street last week, police said.

Officers responded to call of shots fired in the area of 38th Avenue and Buchanan Street about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

While the officers were en route to the scene, they received another call that two men had been shot on Fillmore.

Officers located the pair, who told police they were riding north on Pierce Street when they saw an unknown man pull out a gun and begin firing at their vehicle, police said.

The pair, who are brothers, sped off and called for help. Police said one of the brothers, a 21-year-old man, suffered a grazing wound and was treated at the scene. His 17-year-old brother was taken to an emergency room for treatment of his wounds.
