GARY | A 62-year-old man was shot Sunday night while in his vehicle in the 2300 block of Connecticut Street, police said.

The victim said he and his wife were in the vehicle about 11:18 p.m. when they heard shots being fired and then saw the back window shatter, according to a police report.

Police said the man then reported feeling pain, and knew that he had been shot. The man told police after the shooting stopped, he drove to safety and his wife called 911.

The man was taken to an area emergency room.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Gary police Cpl. James Nielsen at (219) 881-4754.
