GARY | Majestic Star Casino and Hotel team members recently donated $4,560 to the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana from the annual charity golf outing fundraiser hosted at Sherwood Golf Course in Schererville.
“We are thrilled and excited from the support of the team members of Majestic Star Casino as they help to fight hunger,” said Arleen Peterson, executive director of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.
“We are delighted that our team members enjoyed participating in the golf outing, it’s a great way to give back to residents in our community,” said Craig Ghelfi, general manager for Majestic Star Casino and board member for the Food Bank of NWI.
The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana was founded in 1982 in a barn, but has grown into a facility that acquires, stores and distributes more than 4.9 million pounds of food annually throughout Lake and Porter counties. It is a USDA-approved, primary distributor of food to local pantries, shelters, day care centers, and soup kitchens.
“The pantry is located in the city of Gary and we are always in need of support. With the various cut backs in today’s economy, we are truly grateful for Majestic Star’s contribution,” added Pamela Perkins, associate director of the Food Bank.
