GARY | A body found this week in Gary was identified Thursday as a Lake Station woman.

Brittany Sutton, 22, was found Tuesday in an alley in the 2500 block of Jefferson Street, according to a release from the Lake County coroner's office.

Sutton was identified through fingerprints. Investigators found no signs or evidence of foul play, the release said.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday. The cause and manner of death are pending results of the autopsy and toxicology testing, an official said.

Officers responded to the alley about 9 a.m. Tuesday after a resident spotted a body, police said.

Officials said Tuesday they believe Sutton died elsewhere and her body was left in Gary.

The Gary Police Department, Lake County crime scene investigators and the coroner's office are investigating Sutton's death. Anyone with information is asked to call Gary police Detective Dan Callahan at (219) 881-1210.
