GARY | The ECIER (Educate, Communicate, Innovate, Entrepreneur, Relationship) Foundation, formerly the Don H. Barden Foundation, recently received confirmation of its 501c3 status. This designation by the federal government will now allow the group to move forward as a non-profit organization and raise funds to benefit youth for entrepreneurial programs and scholarships.
“We are so excited about this accomplishment,” said ECIER Founder and President, Chareice White. “Becoming a 501c3 lends even more credibility to our efforts, and donations we receive are now tax deductible.”
In August, the organization hosted an inaugural event with a special movie premiere of “The Butler.” White shared that more events and initiatives are in store.
“We have assembled a board that is committed to making a difference in the lives of young people,” added White. “They will use their resources and experience to help build ECIER’s mission and impact on this community.”
