HAMMOND | The sentencing hearing for former Gary Councilwoman Marilyn Krusas has been rescheduled for Aug. 21, federal court records show.
Krusas pleaded guilty to tax evasion in April.
Federal prosecutors said Krusas failed to file tax returns since 1991 and had failed to pay taxes on a $232,680 inheritance she received in 2009 and 2010.
Krusas admitted to tax evasion and said the loss to the U.S. Treasury was between $80,000 and $200,000.
She resigned last month from the Gary City Council, where she had served since 2000.
Krusas is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 21 in U.S. District Court in Hammond.
