GARY | A Gary strip club was shut down Saturday by Indiana State Excise Police, authorities said.

AJ's Gentleman Club, at 5195 Harrison Street, was cited for selling alcohol without a permit and for not having any state or city permits for public entertainment.

According to a news release, there was evidence of prostitution going on in the club.

Excise officers and Gary police arrested four people during Saturday's search of the club.

Jim Dilworth, the manager of the club, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, according to the news release.

Alton Walker, 36, of Gary, and Joseph Nieto, 30, of Gary, were charged with visiting a common nuisance.

Makita Turner, 20, of Gary, was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol and visiting a common nuisance, according to the release.

Officers said the strip club had a full-service liquor bar and nude dancing in the bar area along with inside private booths, according to the release.

A photo of the club released by police shows the business advertising itself as a restaurant and lounge. The club's website states the club recently opened and says it offers a juice bar and food. Its Facebook page was created June 1.
