GARY | The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has announced Executive Director Angie Williams is leaving the organization and her successor has been selected.
Williams is taking a position at a local nonprofit organization, said Megan Sikes, the food bank's communication/advocacy manager. The location of her new position hasn't been revealed.
Arleen Peterson was selected as the food bank's next executive director, according to a news release from the organization.
"The Food Bank of NWI has experienced a complete transformation under Angie’s direction, and we are excited for Arleen to continue building and strengthening the critical mission of the food bank in serving as a link for food relief to families, the elderly, children and other individuals across the region," Kevin DeVries, the food bank's board president, said in the release.
Peterson was vice president of education services for Simon Youth Foundation before she was selected as the food bank's executive director.
Simon Youth Foundation is an Indianapolis-based organization that provides educational opportunities for students at risk of dropping out of high school.
Williams will work with Peterson as she transitions into the executive director position at the food bank, according to the news release.
