GARY | On April 25, the Indiana University Northwest School of Business and Economics and the IU Northwest Business Alliance will welcome Garrison Wynn as the speaker for the 2013 Business Speakers Series Luncheon at the Radisson Hotel Star Plaza. Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at noon in the Grand Metropolitan room of the Radisson, located at 800 E. 81st Ave. in Merrillville.

Keynote speaker Garrison Wynn helps people make the jump from being great at what they do, to developing the qualities it takes to be consistently chosen for the job. He gets them to understand why their products, services, or leadership styles — or those of their competitor — are selected. As he says, “If the world agreed on what’s best, everybody would choose the best and nothing else would be considered. Decision-making doesn’t work that way.”

Wynn’s presentations help people become more influential regardless of circumstances. Wynn has presented to some of the world’s most effective leaders and business developers, from multibillion-dollar manufacturers and national associations to top New York Stock Exchange wire houses. He has a background in manufacturing, telecomm, and financial services and toured as a professional stand-up comedian.

In his teens, Wynn worked with Magnavox and baseball legend Hank Aaron to promote the world’s first video gaming system, and by age 27 he became the youngest department head in a Fortune 500 company’s history. He researched and designed processes for 38 locations nationwide and developed and marketed products still being sold in 30 countries.

He is the author of the bestseller The REAL Truth About Success, has contributed weekly to The Washington Post, and has co-authored with Stephen Covey. His award-winning success tools receive high praise, but his greatest strength is a magnetic live performance that keeps him in high demand, with more than 600 inquiries and 100 speaking dates per year.

This annual event serves as a fundraiser to benefit the business school, which is the only public business program in Northwest Indiana to be accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). In January 2010, AACSB reaffirmed the business school’s accreditation for another six years.

The IU Northwest Business Alliance strives to create a professional partnership between the IU Northwest School of Business and Economics and members of the Northwest Indiana business community. This partnership is meant to increase the interaction between the school and the business community by leveraging faculty and staff expertise to assist local businesses, by retaining the school’s students for jobs in Northwest Indiana, and by ensuring business input into the school’s curriculum planning and mission processes.

Tickets are $45 per person or $400 for a table of 10, which includes eight corporate representatives and two business and economic students.

Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsorship packages are also available. Checks can be made payable to Indiana University. Sponsorship is not tax deductible.

To RSVP, go to Attendees must pre-register before April 19. No walk-ins will be accepted.
