HAMMOND | A Gary man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a federal charge of selling a firearm to a convicted felon.

On Sept. 18 in Gary, Tajuan Deon Allen allegedly sold an SKS rifle with an obliterated serial number along with a 30-round magazine to a confidential informant for $500, according to an affidavit. The informant was under surveillance by an agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

ATF agents found a Ruger 9 mm pistol in Allen’s home during a subsequent search court records state.

A criminal history check revealed Allen has prior federal felony convictions that include conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine, murder with a firearm and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, authorities said.
