GARY | A Gary man facing charges in two bank robberies was additionally charged Wednesday in two other bank robberies.
Stacy B. Davis, 45, was charged in a federal superseding indictment with robbing four banks in Merrillville and Munster between 2009 and 2012, according to court records. He faces charges of bank robbery by force or violence.
Davis robbed a Chase Bank branch in Merrillville in October 2009 and against Oct. 11, 2012, according to court records. He also is accused of robbing a Fifth Third Bank branch in Munster on March 20, 2010, and a TCF Bank branch in Munster on Oct. 2.
According to court records, Davis slipped a teller a note in the Oct. 11 Chase robbery stating, "This is a robbery, No Dye Packs, $100 and $20, No Alarm, I have a scanner."
Davis was convicted in 1998 of robbing a bank in Homewood, where his note also made reference to having a scanner, according to records. Davis, who didn't conceal his face during the robberies, was identified by someone after viewing media coverage and by a teller.
Officials also were looking at records of his cellphone, which they think he was using during the robberies.
