CROWN POINT | A Gary man is alleged to have admitted throwing his 4-week old daughter on a couch as he stood up to batter the child's mother.
Reginald Kennebrew, 23, is charged with four counts of criminal confinement, neglect of a dependent, two counts of domestic battery and battery.
Kennebrew told police he was angered his girlfriend, the baby's mother, had been out of the house most of the day with the newborn.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Kennebrew admitted to punching the woman in the face repeatedly while the woman was sitting on the couch, then pulling her legs off the couch causing her to fall to the floor.
Standing over her, Kennebrew admitted to continuing to punch the woman in the face, causing her to crawl into his mother's bedroom, leaving the baby unattended on the couch.
Kennebrew continued throwing punches at the woman causing his mother to fall on top of her as he continued striking the woman, the affidavit states.
Kennebrew's mother called police and paramedics, who took the woman and the baby to a hospital for treatment, according to the affidavit.
The woman, who wore a brace on her swollen left hand, suffered injuries consistent with the beating, the affidavit states.
