GARY | Police are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man who was found dead Wednesday morning in the trunk of his wife's car.
Patrick A. Bush, of the 2900 block of West 17th Avenue, was pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner's office. The manner and cause of death were pending autopsy results.
Gary police said they were called to Bennie's Towing at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday after discovering a 1996 Cadillac there that belonged to Bush's wife.
Cpl. Gabrielle King, spokeswoman for Gary police, said Bush's wife had reported him missing Wednesday. He was last seen at 12:30 a.m. Sunday leaving his house and last spoke to a family member at 12:59 a.m.
When officers arrived at Bennie's Towing, at 2160 W. 10th Ave., they smelled something foul coming from the car. They opened up the trunk and found Bush dead inside, police said.
The car had been towed from the 2700 block of Jefferson Street, police said.
King said police didn't know where Bush was going early Sunday when he was last seen. There are no suspects in the case.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call Gary police Sgt. Dan Callahan at (219) 881-7545.
