HAMMOND | A 24-year-old Gary man was indicted Thursday on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Allen Ray Evens was convicted of robbery, a Class C felony, in Lake County in 2010, according a federal indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Hammond.
Gary police conducted a traffic stop Dec. 18 at Fourth Avenue and Polk Street, according to court records. Police asked the driver, identified as Evens, if he had a weapon, and Evens produced a loaded Ruger 9 mm semi-automatic pistol from the glove compartment, records state.
