CROWN POINT | One of two Gary men charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a third Gary man pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of criminal recklessness.
Roosevelt Franklin, 29, admitted to being in a car driven by Jory Peters, 28, and firing at Juan Nieves and a woman a week before Nieves was killed last year.
Nieves and the woman were inside a pickup truck in the parking lot of a Gary gas station at the time of the attack.
Peters was charged with and later convicted of Nieves' murder. He is serving a 55-year sentence for the killing.
Franklin and Peters each were charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of attempted battery and a single count of criminal recklessness for the earlier attack on Nieves and the woman.
Sentencing for Franklin will be argued at a hearing June 17.
