GARY | A 27-year-old man was charged with resisting arrest after leading police on a foot chase in the area of 22nd Avenue and Clark Road Saturday night.

According to reports, officers responded to a call of a man lying in the street at approximately 10:26 p.m.

Police said when officers approached the man to check on his condition, the man suddenly jumped up and began to run. Officers reportedly chased the man and caught up with him, where a struggle ensued before police were able to place him into custody.

The suspect, identified as Kriston Barbee, 27, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what first appeared to be a gunshot wound to his leg, but later was determined to be a puncture wound.

Barbee faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, according to police.
