GARY | Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and other city officials met Thursday to announce the upcoming Blues Festival Tribute.
The outdoor festival will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 7 at Majestic Star Casino Festival Park, 1 Buffington Harbor Drive.
Doors will open at 5 p.m.
“It takes a lot of effort and collaboration amongst departments to pull this off," Gary spokeswoman Chelsea Whittington said.
Although performers Bobby Rush and the Kinsey Report were not able to attend the news conference Thursday, fest emcee Clarence Stevens, a disc jockey at WGVE, 88.7 FM, helped the mayor and planning department announce the lineup. Rush and the Kinsey Report still are scheduled to perform at the event, Whittington said.
Jamiah on Fire and Shuddup and Drive also will perform.
Whittington cited the work of staff at the Majestic Star Hotel & Casino in organizing the event.
Tickets are $20 and available at Gary City Hall, the Genesis Convention Center box office, the South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority and at the door.
