GARY | A 57-year-old man was gunned down Thursday in the 2300 block of Georgia Street, officials said.

Terence Farmer, of Gary, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Lake County coroner's office. He was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. The death was ruled a homicide.

Gary Police Chief Wade Ingram said the shooting happened about 6 p.m. in the driveway of Farmer's house. He said detectives were investigating late Thursday what led to the shooting and were looking for witnesses.

Ingram said people reported a vehicle was seen fleeing from the neighborhood after the shooting.

The fatal shooting marked the city's 45th homicide this year. There were 43 homicides in 2012.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Gary Police Detective Lorenzo Davis at (219) 881-4738.
