GARY | The city will have three town hall meetings today to discuss with residents the partnership between the Gary Housing Authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
HUD agreed last week to step in and address financial management issues and the physical conditions of public housing. Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson said last week the problems plaguing the housing authority go beyond the city's resources.
The first meeting will start at 9 a.m. at the Genesis Towers Ballroom at 578 Broadway, according to a news release. The second meeting will start at noon at New Mount Moriah Baptist Church at 1917 Caroline St.
The third meeting will start at 3 p.m. at the center at 1845 W. 37th Ave.
Gary housing residents who need a ride to any of the meetings are asked to call their property manager for information.
