HAMMOND | A Gary woman was sentenced Wednesday to two years of probation for aiding and assisting in preparing and presenting a false and fraudulent tax return, federal court records state.

Rhonda Murphy, who pleaded guilty in August 2011, must spend six months of her probation term on home detention.

Chanel Bandy, of Merrillville; Charles Standifer, of Gary; and Brittney Walker-Lipsey, of East Chicago, also were indicted in U.S. District Court as part of a tax fraud scheme.

All four were employees of Quick Sam Tax Refund at 3812 Broadway in Gary.

Bandy and Walker-Lipsey were sentenced to two years on probation. Standifer received 18 months in prison, according to court records.
