MANTENO, ILL. | A Gary woman is dead and another Gary woman is charged with aggravated driving under the influence after a crash near Manteno, Ill., early Saturday.
According to Illinois State Police, Stephanie Cobb, 28, of Gary, was driving a 1994 GMC minivan north on Interstate 57 near Manteno when she lost control and struck an abandoned 2000 Dodge pickup truck parked on the shoulder.
Police said the minivan spun around and came to rest in a field. The pickup was pushed into a ditch.
Randi Jackson, 33, of Gary, was a passenger in the minivan and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Cobb was transported to Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Ill., and later to the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee on charges of aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated driving while her license was revoked, police said.
