HAMMOND | A Gary real estate agent was sentenced Friday to 10 months at the Federal Bureau of Prisons' Bradley Center in Michigan City and two years of supervised release, court records state.

In 2011, Eloise Blackmon, 55, pleaded guilty in Hammond federal court to one count of conspiring to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.

According to her past testimony, prosecutors and court records, Blackmon and at least one other individual would submit false bank statements and other documents inflating Blackmon's income and number of dependents, allowing her to qualify for several mortgages.

Blackmon bought five homes, with at least two of those purchases in 2006, according to court records. She lied on forms and submitted false contracts for more than $85,000 in home repairs that were never performed, according to court records. Contractors gave her about $56,000 in kickbacks for making the false claims to the financial institutions and on government forms, court records allege.
