GARY | David King has a vision for Gary that includes stronger schools and safer streets.
The recent West Side Leadership Academy graduate knows the city's youths can help advance those plans.
The Youth Movement for Change, a group which King started in March, collaborated with the Gary Youth Services Bureau to host a rally Saturday at Indiana University Northwest.
King spoke during the event and there were performances to explain the agenda of the group and how Gary's young adults can get involved to enhance the city.
King said he is seeking people 25 years old and younger to join the group and share their opinions of how to bring change to Gary.
He said he wants the group to get involved with elected officials to have their voices heard.
King also encourages area youths to participate in the youth empowerment conference scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at Indiana University Northwest's Savannah Center, 3400 Broadway.
To register for the conference, contact Patrick Barry, director of the Gary Youth Services Bureau, at (219) 881-5270.
