GARY | A Brush With Kindness, a Habitat for Humanity International home revitalization program, has made its way to the Northwest Indiana affiliate.
Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana will host a program launch at 3 p.m. today at its ReStore, 6114 W. Ridge Road, to educate local supporters, volunteers and residents about the program’s potential impact.
Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana will be introducing the ABWK program as a wheelchair ramp building effort, looking to expand the program in the coming year.
Habitat for Humanity International began A Brush With Kindness as part of Habitat’s broader community development strategy in 1999, partnering with Valspar Corp., serving communities in the greater Minneapolis, Minn., area.
The program has since expanded its home revival services nationwide, choosing Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana as the newest affiliate to service qualified residents.
“A Brush With Kindness allows us to better achieve Habitat’s mission by expanding our qualified partner-family base and offering those in need the opportunity to regain their independence," said A Brush With Kindness Coordinator Kristin Marlow-Kellemen. "Habitat for Humanity will be able to serve more families and have a greater impact on the overall community improvement and neighborhood revitalization needs that exist right here in Northwest Indiana.”
