GARY | A Gary City Jail inmate appearing before a judge tried to make a break for it but slipped and fell, Gary police said.
Jamel C. Scott appeared in handcuffs about 1:05 p.m. Tuesday before a judge at Gary City Court, 555 Polk St., according to police reports.
When the judge told Scott he would be held in jail for another day, Scott ran out of the courtroom and down the hallway, the report states.
Scott slipped and fell near the metal detectors, the report states. A police officer picked up Scott and took him back to his cell.
