CROWN POINT | Jury selection began Monday in the murder trial of a 34-year-old Gary woman accused of shooting a man in her car in late 2009.
Kaneka Kidd, 34, is alleged to have killed 37-year-old Jermaine Ellis in a "domestic shooting," police said at the time.
Ellis was found shot multiple times lying across the front seat of Kidd's car after the couple began arguing at a residence in Merrillville. Kidd is alleged to have shot Ellis and then driven the car to her Gary home.
In 2006, Kidd's 6-year-old son died when a speeding car drove into a crowd along Fifth Avenue in Gary. The crash also killed three other bystanders and severely injured six others.
