GARY | A Lake County sheriff's police officer on patrol Monday afternoon spotted a car reported stolen almost 12 hours earlier and gave pursuit, apprehending one suspect after a crash.
Officer Scott Bock was on patrol in Gary just after 5 p.m. when he noticed a 2002 Dodge Intrepid matching the description of a stolen vehicle at 41st Avenue and Georgia Street, according to Patti Van Til, Lake County sheriff's police spokeswoman.
Bock gave chase and when the vehicle crashed at 47th Avenue and Carolina Street. The officer pursued two suspects on foot, apprehending the one riding as a passenger.
The apprehended suspect turned out to be a juvenile, as was the driver, who is still at large, Van Til said. The youth apprehended was turned over to his parents and will appear in juvenile court.
