GARY | A 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly impersonating an officer during an altercation with an off-duty Gary police officer Tuesday morning inside the main lobby of an area hospital.
Police said Radon L. Burns is facing a charge of impersonating a public servant. The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. when the off-duty officer, who was working as a security officer for the hospital, was called to the lobby because of a disturbance between a woman and a man who later was identified as Burns.
On arriving at the scene, the officer spoke with the couple during which time Burns allegedly asked the officer if he planned to arrest a fellow officer identifying himself as a Lake County police officer.
The Gary police officer contacted the Lake County Police Department, who reported not having an officer named Radon Burns. Burns then was placed into custody.
