GARY | An argument between family members quickly escalated and led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man accused of shooting at his uncle, police said.

Officers were called to the 3800 block of Hendricks Street at 7:24 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of shots fired.

The uncle told officers his 27-year-old nephew, identified as Leo Taylor, was playfully poking him in his side, police said. When the uncle got annoyed and told him to stop, the two men began arguing. Taylor then pulled out a gun and fired a shot that missed the uncle, police said.

Taylor was arrested on a charge of attempted homicide.
