CROWN POINT | Prosecutors on Tuesday charged a Gary man with murder and attempted murder in a double shooting that killed Darryl Jordan, also of Gary.
Jordan, 45, was the driver of a van in which he and a friend are alleged to have been shot by 46-year-old Garrick Troupe after an encounter Thursday between Troupe and Jordan's friend.
Court documents state Jordan agreed to drive the friend to a residence in the 3100 block of West 19th Place in Gary to pick up his girlfriend and their daughter.
Police were told Troupe, also known as "Jerome," denied the woman and her child were there, angering Jordan's friend who kicked in the door, breaking the glass and angering Troupe.
Troupe is alleged to have followed Jordan's friend to the van, where he fired at both men.
Jordan, who was mortally wounded, drove from the scene until coming to a stop in a backyard where his friend placed him in the back of the van and drove both men to the Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus.
Jordan died following surgery for gunshot wounds later Thursday morning.
