GARY | A 21-year-old Gary man faces gun charges for allegedly pulling out a firearm and pointing it at another man outside a gas station in the 2500 block of Harrison Street Monday afternoon.
Gary Police Detective Johnnie Gill reported he was on his way to the police station to start his shift at approximately 3 p.m., when he arrived at a four-way stop and noticed a group of young people waiting outside of a gas station to make purchases.
It was then Gill reported seeing a male, later identified as 21-year-old DeAngelo Johnson, approach another male, pull out a black, semi-automatic handgun and push him up against the wall outside of the establishment.
Gill reported arriving at the scene and approaching the subjects, at which time Johnson slowly walked away still holding the gun, police said. Gill detained Johnson, who was subsequently arrested and faces charges that include intimidation, assault with a firearm, and possession of cocaine.
Police said Johnson also had an active warrant for illegally carrying a firearm.
