GARY | A 31-year-old man faces drug and weapons charges after being arrested by police during a drug bust Tuesday night in the 3800 block of Madison Street.

Police said Leaundra Drake was charged with possession of stolen property, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

According to reports, officers were in the area around 8 p.m. in response to calls about drug activity. It was then that officers reportedly approached three males in an alley.

Drake, who police said was in a wheelchair, attempted to roll away from the scene but was stopped by officers.

A handgun was recovered from the wheelchair, police said, and a clear plastic jar that contained clear plastic bags, which contained 57 grams of marijuana. Also recovered from the scene were 43 Vicodin pills and $330 in cash, according to reports.
